What happens first

Stop the water, then work out the fix

When water is coming into a building, the priority is not the perfect repair — it is stopping the damage spreading into ceilings, wiring and floors. Getting a temporary covering on quickly can be the difference between drying out a ceiling and replacing it.

So an emergency call-out is two jobs, not one. We make the roof safe and watertight, photograph everything for your records and your insurer, and only then look properly at what failed and what it will take to put right. You get the permanent work quoted in writing, in daylight, without anyone deciding under pressure.

  • Immediate response to active leaks
  • Temporary covering to stop further damage

What we deal with

The calls that cannot wait

If any of these sound like your evening, call us rather than emailing — the phone gets a much faster answer.

  • Storm damage

Wind-lifted tiles, torn felt and displaced ridges made safe before the next band of weather arrives.

  • Active leaks

Water coming through a ceiling or running down a wall, traced and stopped as quickly as access allows.

  • Unstable chimneys

Cracked or leaning stacks and loose pots assessed and made safe rather than left over a public footpath.

  • Impact damage

Fallen branches, scaffolding strikes and anything else that has put a hole where a roof should be.

  • Overflowing gutters

Blocked or collapsed rainwater goods clearing water into the wall instead of away from the building.

  • Temporary covers

Sheeting and temporary weatherproofing to hold the building until a proper repair can be programmed.

Before we arrive

What you can do while you wait

A few sensible steps can limit the damage considerably — and none of them involve going up on the roof yourself.

  • Move furniture and electricals clear of where water is coming in
  • Put a bucket under the drip and a towel around the base
  • If a ceiling is bulging, keep everyone out of that room
  • Turn off electrics to the affected area if water is near a fitting
  • Photograph the damage as it happens for your insurer
  • Do not go up a ladder in wind or rain to look at it yourself
  • Call us and tell us water is actively getting in

  • Do you really operate a 24 hour call-out?

Yes — a 24 hour call-out is one of the services listed on our trade profile. Response times depend on where you are and what else is happening, particularly during a storm when everybody calls at once, but active leaks are always prioritised over routine work.

  • What does an emergency call-out cost?

The initial attendance and any temporary work are quoted for the job in front of us rather than from a fixed price list, because emergencies vary enormously. What we will not do is carry out permanent work under pressure without you seeing a written price for it first.

  • Will you fix it permanently on the first visit?

Sometimes, if it is straightforward and the weather allows. More often the sensible sequence is to make the roof safe and watertight, then return to do the permanent repair properly once we have seen the full picture and you have a written quote.

  • Can you provide evidence for an insurance claim?

Yes. We photograph the damage and the work carried out, and we can give you a written, itemised quotation for the permanent repair to submit to your insurer.

  • My neighbour has tiles hanging over the pavement — who deals with that?

If there is an immediate danger to the public, contact your local authority, who can act quickly. We can make a roof safe once we have instruction from whoever is responsible for the building.

  • Do you cover flat roofs as well as tiled?

Yes. Storm damage to felt and single ply coverings is common, and a lifted flat roof covering can let in a very large amount of water very quickly. We deal with both.
